This is part of a series of posts, ‘How to be an Overnight Success in Under Three Years’.  Occasionally someone becomes an overnight success on the net.  Fame, fortune and lots of potential attractive lovers come to them.  But usually it’s just chance and an unusual set of circumstances.

Most overnight successes are usually the result of a lot of hard work over 6 months, one year, two years, three or more.  This articles looks at how with some effort and persistence you to can make yourself an overnight success.  But, it may take you some time.

Let’s Go:  The nature of an overnight success

If you look at Youtube, or the blogging world, Facebook or Twitter you see what is now called trending topics.  These are the videos, the posts, the pager or the tweets, that everyone is now watching, reading or using.

These trends usually start small.  A couple of lads uploading their own video to Youtube, an unusual post or a tweet that’s clever, with a good link.  These topics get picked up by a few people.  Then the viral process starts.  The few people send links to friends by email or it’s posted to their social media system of choice.

Slowly the links get sent around.  Some of the links then get taken up the networkers of the networks.  These are the real people of influence: bloggers with thousands of readers; Facebookers with hundreds or thousands of friends; tweeters with a fan club.

We soon reach a tipping point.  The influential ones send the links.  Their followers copy, resend, retweet the links.  Soon you’re getting three, four, a dozen messages – you must see this – you eventually do.  So do thousands of others .  We suddenly have an overnight success.

The Basics of an Overnight Success

• There’s the initial idea, website post, video
• A few people get interested and send links to friends.
• The friends then send on the links to others.
• The major league networkers receive the links.
• They write about the links or pass the links on.
• You’ve reached the tipping point when the network of friends of the big networkers start passing the links on.
• Overnight Success.  Everybody is sending the link on to everybody.
