Hi there,
I’m Paul Odtaa a writer, trainer and geeky support person. I’ve started this blog as a backup to my other site Blog Basics. This site will be a normal blog and Blog Basics I intend to turn into a training site.
Beginning to Blog encourages intermediate bloggers, those new to blogging or those thinking of starting a blog. It will cover technical techniques, business topics, writing skills and, just as important, will give encouragment and support to help motivate visitors through the difficult weeks, months and years of developing a successful blog.
The 10 reason I am writing the ‘Beginning to Blog’ blog.
- I like to blog.
- I want to build a network of developing bloggers. Not as a business, but as a mutual support group, an encouragement group, as a source of ideas and possibly as a source of fun.
- I used to be a computing and business lecturer in a further education college, (what Americans call community colleges). I get a strong buzz out of helping and seeing people develop. So in a way this blog is a development of my teaching career.
- I enjoy writing and I have been told that I am good at explaining technical subjects to non-technical people.
- I am developing a number of blogs and helping others start blogs for themselves. This blog will be a useful place to record what I, and others, have learnt.
- Although this blog will cover all the essential technical topics you will need to develop your own blog it will also give new bloggers encouragement and support.
- When you write or teach a topic you learn about the topic in greater depth. You are forced to research the topic in greater detail and clarify points you might ignore otherwise.
- The blog will help with my own motivation on my other blogs. It will force me to think twice before I have that second cup of coffee, or watch yet another TV programme, (UK spelling), of yet another dedicated team of detectives or CSI solve yet another set of murders, despite their own personal problems. I will not be allowed to let my international audience down.
- In the long term I expect this blog to make me money.
- The blog will help my other blogs, as I mention them, in the articles. It will also help you when you comment, or I review your site, or you contribute to my blog.
